Any texas vehicle over the age of 25 years, is considered an antique or classic vehicle. Frequently, these vehicles have been sitting up over many years and the title has been misplaced.
We can assist in obtaining the title by using the bonded title process.
To determine the value of your antique vehicle, the DMV allows these options:
- The standard presumptive value (spv) from the txdmv web site is used as the primary source
- If SPV is not available on your antique: You can use the average book value from a national reference guide (these values are usually quite high and the bond amount is figured at 1.5 times this value0. In that case, we recommend you obtain an appraisal from a licensed used car dealer or insurance adjuster on the dmv’s required appraisal form (vtr-125). (Bond amount will be 1.5 times the amount of this appraisal) if the appraisal if less than $4,000, dmv will set the vehicle value at $4,000. The appraisal must be submitted with bonded title application within 30 days of date on appraisal form.
We may be able to recommend an appraiser for you in some areas.
